Dominican Republic again on U.S. list of drug producing, transit nations

Washington. – The White House’s  list of 22 countries considered major drug producers or used for its transit includes Afghanistan, Bahamas, Belize, Bolivia, Burma, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Laos, Mexico, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.

Washington included Belize and El Salvador in its annual list of countries it considers major producers or for transit of narcotic drug and again criticized what it affirms it’s the little cooperation by Bolivia, Burma and Venezuela.

In the list disclosed Thursday in a White House statement figure 22 nations, many of them Latin American countries. 

As in previous years Washington considers Bolivia, Burma and Venezuela, countries which in the last twelve months didn’t demonstrate “substantial efforts to comply with their obligation under the international antinarcotics agreements."

Dominican Republic has been consistently placed on the U.S. list of countries which either produce drugs or are used for its transit for at least the last five years.
