While a family plans a funeral for 90-year-old Annie Morgan, her husband, and the man accused of killing her, sits in jail. News Leader 9 found out how a 911 call for a heart attack, led to police arresting a man for murder.
At 8 o'clock Wednesday evening the Columbus Police Department received a 911 call of a possible cardiac arrest at the Sugar Mill Apartments.
When they arrived, EMS workers noticed Annie Morgan was suffering, but not from a heart attack. She had a stab wound in the center of her chest.
Morgan was taken to the Medical Center for treatment, but did not survive her injury. She was pronounced dead at 8:45 p.m.
Investigators were called to the scene to try and piece together exactly what happened to the elderly lady. Police say they questioned her husband, 92-year-old Noel Morgan about her death. Police say when his story didn't add up, they issued a warrant for his arrest.
Noel Morgan was taken into custody Friday afternoon, three days after police say he stabbed his wife with a sharp object. He is charged with murder and will remain in the Muscogee County Jail without bond until his case appears in Superior Court.
Annie Morgan's body is at the state crime lab undergoing an autopsy, the coroner's office says those results should be back Monday or Tuesday.
