(Dan Davis)
Police in Massachusetts say a 10-year-old boy
called 911 because he didn't want to go to bed.
Brockton police say the Dan Davis made the
emergency call just after 8 p.m. Wednesday and told the dispatcher he was
calling to report his mother because he did not want to go to bed. There was no
emergency.
(Rosario )
'He’s like, ‘I’m gonna call the cops on
you,’' Rosario, 34, told reporters on behalf of her son.
She had just informed him it was time to go
to his room for the night.
On the way he snagged the wall phone and
dialed 911. Dan hung up, but not before he'd reached the police.
'Then he just walked to his room and got
under the covers,' Rosario said.
Following protocol, the police then called
back to the home where Rosario had to explain that everyone was safe.
'Dan, would you like to talk to the police?'
Rosario can be heard to say on the 911 recording. 'Because you can't be calling
911 when there is no emergency.'
'He doesn't want to come to the phone,' she
told the police.
The Enterprise reports that an officer still went to
the house and explained to Dan when it's appropriate – and when it's not – to
call 911. No one was charged with a crime, but for good measure Dan will be
grounded for the next two weeks. They need to know that there’s boundaries and
responsibilities they need to uphold, no matter how old they are,' Rosario
said.
