The racist rocker, who has also declared his undying love for the Confederate flag, wrote a column in which he said that African-Americans are the only ones who don’t realize that President Obama is continuing the Democratic Party’s decades-long destruction of black America.
Key here is the phrase “the only ones”, as if all white people, regardless
of political party, are somewhere snickering behind the collective backs of
black people. That phrase goes to the heart of what Nugent believes about
the intellectual capacity of black people.
Here’s what he said:
Barack Obama, the guy who received roughly 93 percent of black American
votes, is the clear and present engineer of the destruction of black America.
It’s not all the president’s fault, but the economic and social policies
he endorses are destroying what is left of a once proud and strong black
America.
[...]
The truth is that the Democratic Party has been the engineer of the
destruction of black Americans, and everyone knows it except the very people
who need to know it the most – black Americans.
The turbo-destruction will continue for
black Americans until they realize that dirty Democrat politicians are their
true enemy, not their salvation. Fortunately, some are beginning to embrace
this self-evident truth.
The truth will set those black Americans free who want to be free, who
want to be the best they can be, who want to leave their grandchildren a
better, stronger America.
If Nugent wants to make a point, then he’s free to make it (even though I
don’t know any black person who cares what he has to say on any issue). But
Nugent should make his point with facts, not back casting aspersions as it
relates to what blacks do or don’t understand.
Truth be told, blacks – like all other races on the planet – are fairly
complex people with varying sets of priorities. We make our decisions based on
the choices available. And it was the GOP who offered us John McCain (and Sarah
Palin) in 2008 and Mitt “Who Let the Dogs Out” Romney
in 2012. So now who’s being
obtuse? If Nugent really wants the GOP to ever stand a chance at picking off a
few black votes, then his first order of business should be to leave his own
party. He’s the problem, not us.
SCRIPTURES
EZEKIEL 3: 4
And he said unto me,
Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto
them.
5For
thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard
language, but to the house of Israel; 6Not to many people of
a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not
understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto
thee.
7But
the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto
me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. 8Behold,
I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong
against their foreheads.
9 As an adamant harder
than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at
their looks, though they be a rebellious house.
10Moreover he said
unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine
heart, and hear with thine ears.
11And go, get thee to
them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them,
and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they
will forbear.
