A woman was shot in the head and killed in a Highlandtown home shortly before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police said, making her the 16th fatal victim of gunfire in a wave of shootings that began last Friday.

Police said they believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Police said they have a person of interested in custody in connection with the shooting, which happened in the 200 block of S. Haven Street. No other details about the incident were immediately available.

Later Saturday, police said they were investigating two more shootings, one in West Baltimore and the other in Northeast Baltimore.

In the first incident, a man was shot in the leg at the corner of W. Lafayette Avenue and N. Bentalou Street and later walked into Bon Secours Hospital.

Later in the evening, police said another person was shot in the back in the 2800 block of Edison Highway, the same block as Catholic High School of Baltimore.
Police provided no other details about either shooting.
The wave of shootings has brought promises from police to step up patrols this weekend and through the 4th of July holiday. Last night, Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts and Councilman Brandon M. Scott visited some of the additional officers who were on duty.
