Although the Bible calls animals irrational in Jude 1:10 and 2 Peter 2:12, and condemns those who operate by their instincts, Bishop T.D. Jakes is gearing up to release a book that instructs others to better live according to what he calls their divinely-inspired instincts.
His book titled, Instinct: The Power to Unleash your Inborn Drive (FaithWords, May 2014), according to the 56- year-old mega pastor, was inspired by his trip to an African Safari, and is not deeply rooted in scripture.
“And the reason I spent more time focusing on real-life evaluations and using animals as metaphors [is] because animals are better at being instinctive than we are, and I did it like that because, sometimes, church people, we do church better than we do life.”
Isaiah 9:
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
Lamentations 2:
14 Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.
Jeremiah 23:
21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
Proverbs 3:
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
