A funeral procession in Duxbury took a violent turn when someone inside a car opened fire on a rapper in another car Saturday morning.

Sources say that Boston-based rapper Benzino, real name Raymond Scott, 48, was shot at by his nephew, 36-year-old Gai Scott. The nephew, who was driving a Bentley, at one point pulled up next to Raymond's Dodge SUV and fired multiple shots.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, Raymond exited his vehicle and was taken to Duxbury Police by a passerby who saw him bleeding on the side of the road. He was transported to South Shore Hospital with non-fatal gunshot wounds, where he is said to be in stable condition.

Family says that there has been growing tension between the two for some time, but no official reason has been given.

The funeral was for Benzino's mother, Mary Scott, who had passed away on March 20.

There was no sign of trouble until the hearse pulled up to the church with blood on it, according to Father William Williams.

"I said to one of the guys: 'There's blood on the hearse.' There was an incident along the way," Williams said. "The family was there. They were mourning somebody they loved who died so they didn't want to talk cops and robbers."

Gai was placed under arrest. He was charged with armed assault with intent to murder. He will be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Monday.

An investigation is still ongoing.

So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
