Barbara Lee Calls Out Paul Ryan for Comments On “Inner-City” Men

Congresswoman Barbara Lee says Rep. Paul Ryan “isn’t thinking” or it’s unfortunate if he is during her appearance Thursday on “NewsOne Now” with Roland Martin.

Lee was responding to comments made by Ryan Wednesday morning to Right-wing radio host Bill Bennett. Citing an academic who previously argued that poverty is largely the result of low IQ and race, Ryan told Bennet that poverty in America is the product of a “tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value and the culture of work…So there’s a real culture problem here,” Ryan continued, “that has to be dealt with.”
Lee, who serves on the powerful House Budget Committee with Ryan, told Roland Martin the comments were not only statistically inaccurate but deeply offensive.

DEUTERONOMY 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

16 Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.

17 Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.

DEUTERONOMY 28:37 And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.

38 Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
