The Gay Marriage Debate Gets Heated In The Black Community In VA

The Richmond, Virginia Mayor, Dwight Jones, is receiving opposition from liberal activist about him not publicly supporting gay marriage.  If Jones is selected for chairman, he declared that he would not allow his personal views to represent his decisions.
“My position is that I’m going to fight for constitutional protections under the law for individuals no matter what their beliefs and their conditions are,” he said in an interview with the Washington Post.
His viewpoint, which would allow him to be true to himself and true to his religious foundation, is being mocked by liberal and gay rights groups.
“We have a president, a vice president, and a U.S. Attorney General who now stand on the right side of history, on the side of equality. The Democratic Party of Virginia must not consider retreating on this issue,” says a petition from the LGBT Democrats of Virginia.
According to reports, the groups are concern about not being represented by Jones since he has a different viewpoint on moral issues. He has previously expressed how he felt about marriage in the past according to GayRVA.com, “This is one issue that President Obama and I disagree on,” said Mayor Jones.
He continued, “Despite this disagreement however, I applaud the efforts and work of President Obama and his administration and I will do whatever I can to ensure he is re-elected.”
Regardless of Jones personal views on the issue, it does not discredit his contribution to the overall fight for equal opportunity and economic well-being for all. Elected Gov. Terry McAuliffe recommended Jones as a great candidate for the chair position and others are supporting him as well.
“Mayor Jones is an excellent choice for chair, and I support him based on all of his work on behalf of our party’s values as a delegate and mayor, including his work advocating for civil rights and equal opportunity,” said Attorney General Mark R. Herring in an interview with Richmond Times Dispatch.

GENESIS 19:9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
