Perv Arrested After Groping 58-Year-Old Woman In Times Square

A man dressed as video game character Super Mario has been arrested for
allegedly groping a woman in New York City's Times Square making the second
arrest of a character in months.

Damon Torres, 34, of North Bergen, New Jersey, was charged with forcible
touching on Wednesday after first allegedly blocking the woman's path, an
NYPD spokesman said.

Police say Torres, disguised in the full-body red and blue costume, grabbed
the 58-year-old woman's thigh in front of 4 Times Square, also known as the
Conde Nast building, before walking away.

This wasn't the woman's first alleged encounter with the man according to
the victim.

'She said she had similar encounters with the character. She said she was
offended,' a Times Square Alliance security guard who assisted the woman
told the New York Daily News

The woman notified police officers, who arrested Torres at the famous
tourist attraction.

Torres - who according to his Facebook page played as an extra in the
Batman Dark Knight Rises movie - was also charged with marijuana possession.

But Mario's arrest was not the first for the otherwise cuddly-looking
characters that swarm Times Square posing with tourists for pictures for
tips - nor in recent months.

In September a red-suited Elmo was angrily hauled off in handcuffs after
allegedly yelling anti-Semitic rants at passersby.

That man’s arrest, identified as 48-year-old Adam Sandler - not the
comedian - followed a similar one in Central Park which led to his
hospitalization for a psychiatric evaluation.

Sandler was last seen out west in California, performing similar rants in a
San Francisco park as SFGate reported
with the caption: 'Run, don't walk, if you see this man.'

Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world

But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

Obama Condemns Deadly Violence In Kenya

President Barack Obama is condemning violence in Kenya that left at least 39 people dead in renewed fighting between farming and herding communities that have a history of violent animosity.

The White House says in a statement that Obama urges the Kenyan government and police, along with leaders from the Orma and Pokomo communities, to end a deadly cycle of conflict.

At least 39 people were killed early Friday when farmers from the Pokomo tribe raided an Orma village of cattle herders in southeastern Kenya. The violence appears to be driven by competition for water, pasture and other resources in the Tana River Delta.

The Obama administration is calling on all sides to intensify peace efforts in the region and says those responsible for the attack should be held accountable.

Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.

Ex-NBAer Javaris Crittenton Accused of Slapping Baby Momma As She Breastfed Their Child

Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton (pictured) is accused of slapping the Mother of his child, Tyress Daniels, across the face as she breastfed their day-old infant, reports TMZ.  Now, the young Mom has filed a restraining order against the former baller in a move to keep her distance from him since this recent incident reportedly makes three assaults against her.

Daniels filed her court documents at the L.A. County Superior Court, alleging that Crittenton’s physical abuse toward her has escalated. The Mom also claims that the physical altercation that allegedly occurred on November 1, happened just 24 hours after she had given birth to their son.

According to Daniels, “I was breastfeeding the baby and we got in to an argument over what the baby would wear for pictures. Javaris hit me in the face while I was breastfeeding because he said I had a smart mouth.” Daniels says that after the alleged assault, Crittenton tried to flee the hospital with the baby, but his escape was thwarted by hospital security and he was escorted out of her room.

The ex-Washington Wizards player has also been accused of attacking his girlfriend while she was pregnant in a hotel room.

Another incident of domestic violence between the pair allegedly took place on November 26th, when their tussle resulted in Daniels sustaining a scratched-up face and busted lip. The battle supposedly ended with Crittenton sending Daniels a cryptic text message threatening that she would end up like her “dead mother” and he would then gain custody of their child.

After Daniels filed the legal papers, a judge awarded her temporary custody of the baby and set a court date for January, when a decision will be reached with regards to making the restraining order permanent.

Crittenton’s latest legal woes only compounds what he is already facing. In August 2011, the young player was charged with murdering a 22-year-old Mother of four, when he allegedly conducted a drive-by. Police officials believed that the young woman was not his intended victim and that he had been seeking revenge on someone who had robbed him back in April of last year.  The woman was shot in the hip and died while undergoing surgery.

Meanwhile with regards to Crittenton’s most-recent legal scuffle, he is mandated by the courts to stay at last 100 yards away from Daniels and their son.

[So that] the man [that is] tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Teen Sentenced To 11 Years In Prison For Allegedly Orchestrating Burning Attack On Classmate

A teenager convicted of orchestrating an attack on a middle school classmate who was soaked in alcohol and lit ablaze was sentenced to 11 years in prison Thursday even as he continued to insist on his innocence.

Circuit Judge Matthew Destry agreed with prosecutors that Matthew Bent, 18, deserved the same sentence as the youth who flicked the lighter during the 2009 attack on Michael Brewer, who was then 15. Although Bent did not set the fire or pour the flammable liquid, Destry said he was just as much to blame. Bent was convicted of aggravated battery in June.

“I cannot ignore that, but for Mr. Bent’s orchestration of these events, none of this would have happened,” Destry said.

Before he was sentenced, Bent turned and apologized to Brewer but said he was not the ringleader.

“I didn’t intend for any of this to happen,” he said. “I didn’t tell nobody to do that.”

Brewer survived by leaping into an apartment complex swimming pool but suffered severe burns over two-thirds of his body. In court Thursday, he looked in good shape physically but family members say his skin grafts still cause pain and he suffers from frequent nightmares. His mother, Valerie Brewer, said the family was satisfied with the sentence.

“What happened to Michael touched people around the world. We got justice today,” she said.

Brewer himself declined comment. “I’m good,” he said.

The series of events began with a marijuana pipe that Brewer testified Bent wanted him to purchase. When Brewer declined, Bent allegedly went to the Brewer home and tried to steal a bicycle. Bent was arrested on theft charges.

The next day, fearing a reprisal, Brewer stayed home from Deerfield Beach Middle School that most of the boys involved attended. When school let out, Bent and a group of boys were walking home when they happened to find a jug of rubbing alcohol atop an apartment complex wall. About the same time, they ran into Brewer, who had decided to go over to a friend’s house.

What happened next is in dispute. Some boys say Bent offered to pay them to punch Brewer, and others say it was Bent who signaled that they would pour the alcohol on him. Ultimately, according to trial testimony, the jug was dumped on Brewer by Denver Colorado Jarvis and then Jesus Mendez flicked his lighter.

Jarvis and Mendez pleaded no contest to attempted second-degree murder charges. Jarvis is serving an eight-year sentence

and Mendez was sentenced to 11 years.

Bent at one point was offered a plea deal and eight-year sentence, but opted for trial. He was acquitted of the attempted murder charge but convicted of aggravated battery in June.

Prosecutor Maria Schneider had urged Destry to impose the 11-year term on Bent, still less than the 15-year maximum.

“This young man refuses to accept any responsibility for what happened to Michael Brewer. I think that’s very disturbing,” she said.

Bent will be given credit for the three-plus years he has already spent in jail, leaving him with less than eight years to go. His father, Dennis Bent, said the conviction and sentence will be appealed.

“This case, it’s not over,” Dennis Bent said. “He didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t see it as fully justice.”

Gay ‘Queen James’ Bible Causes Controversy

The “Queen James Bible” that has recently been released purports to be based on the King James Bible version and is being touted as the “first-ever gay Bible in the world,” reports the Daily Mail.

The “Queen James Bible” is said to offer an unconvoluted and unbiased explanation of all of the standard biblical verses that pertain to homosexuality.

“Homosexuality was first overtly mentioned in the Bible in 1946 in the Revised Standard Version. There is no mention of or reference to homosexuality in any Bible prior to this – only interpretations have been made,” according to the book’s editors.

“The Queen James Bible addresses those controversial verses by editing them very slightly for interpretive clarity. The edits all confirm that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality, and therefore renders such interpretations impossible.”

The publication of the revisionist interpretation of the holy word comes at a time when same-sex marriage is being hotly debated throughout the country.  The bound book, which is being sold online for $34.95, oddly enough does not explain how it germinated, nor is a publisher, editor, or translator listed anywhere.

Douglas J. Moo, Wessner Chair of Biblical Studies at Wheaton College and a professional Bible translator, contends that the Queen James editor’s interpretations is not entirely accurate.

“Few, if any English translations use the actual words ‘homosexuality’ or ‘homosexual.’ But the history of English translation shows that versions have consistently used other language to refer to what we would call homosexual relationships,’ Moo told The Christian Post.  “For instance, the King James Version of Romans 1:27 refers to ‘men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly.  It would be very difficult to deny that this language, and the language found in many other places in both the [Old Testament] and the [New Testament], refers to homosexuality.

Reverend Glynn Cardy of St. Matthew in the City Church located in Aotearoa, New Zealand, is standing firmly on the side of the book’s publishers.  He told the Daily Mail that since “homosexuality” was not a word until the 1800s, any mention of it in the Bible would come with mistranslations.  He also pointed out that there were no references to Jesus’ sexual orientation, “The fact is we don’t know what his sexual orientation was.”

Rev. Cardy placed a huge poster outside of his church, depicting the baby Jesus lying in a manger with a halo of the gay rainbow suggesting that the son of God is gay, causing outrage in those who are staunch religious conservatives.

As the debate with regards to the gay bible continues, here are some excerpted interpretations from both books:

Jude 1:7 (King James):

Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

 Jude 1:7 (Queen James):

Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after nonhuman flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Genesis 19:5 (King James):

And they called unto Lot, and  said unto him, ‘Where are the  men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Genesis 19:5 (Queen James):

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may rape and humiliate them.

But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or [that] thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.

Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.

Boy, 5, Beaten To Death Because He Couldn’t Pronounce ‘Sad’

A 5-year-old Philadelphia boy who died after allegedly being tortured during homework lessons lost his life, in part, because he could not pronounce the word “sad,” Philly.com reports.

Dashawn Harris was punched or suffered a belt-lashing by his mother’s boyfriend, Christian Patrick, for every mistake he made during his Nov. 30 home-schooling session.

The punishment reportedly lasted for hours and left the boy crying and bleeding. The mother, Lashay Patterson, did nothing to stop it.

The problem, according to Patrick, was that Dashawn did not seem interested in the lesson, according to a preliminary hearing describing the final hours of the boy’s life.

“When he got the ‘a’ part, I told him to tell me the last part of sad, because I wanted him to say it correctly,” Patrick reportedly told police. “I told him if he didn’t tell me the letter that made the ‘d’ sound, he was going to get another beating. So he said the letter ‘w,’ and I told him he was wrong, and he just started saying every letter except the ‘d’ sound, so I beat him again.”

The beating eventually lead to Dashawn’s death.

As NewsOne previously reported, the boy’s other family members suspected that Dashawn had been abused prior to his death. They boy was never allowed play outside with other neighborhood children. Tracy Merriweather, the boys’ paternal aunt and Patterson’s next-door neighbor, said when she asked Patterson about suspicious bruises on her son’s body, the mother stop letting her see the boy and his younger brother.

The Wednesday’s preliminary hearing confirmed Merriweather’s worst fears. Perhaps the most disturbing detail heard at the hearing was the lack of regard the mother and her boyfriend showed over the boy’s condition when it was clear that he was mortally injured.

Philly.com has more:

Patrick and Patterson put the boy’s sluggish body in the shower, stripping him of his Batman underwear and splashing water in his face. They tried the hair drier, then put him to bed.

Patrick said he had suggested that they take Dashawn to the hospital earlier, but that the child’s mother had refused, saying, “We would both get in trouble.”

In her statement to police, read to the court by Detective Howard Peterman, Patterson said she had heard and seen Patrick beating Dashawn during the lesson, but it “didn’t sound like he was breaking any bones or nothing like that.”

She told police she and Patrick had regularly beat Dashawn since he began his kindergarten home-schooling.

“I’d say since he started school, he’d get beat maybe twice a week and the other days he’d just have to stand in the corner,” she told police.

Detectives are still looking at the details of Dashawn’s home-schooling, said Lt. Philip Riehl, who is leading the investigation.

A medical examiner testified Dashawn died from “multiple blunt impact” and said he couldn’t count all the bruises.

As the details of Dashawn’s death were read, Patrick stared at Patterson. She did not look back, at times rubbing her eyes but displaying little emotion.

Many in the crowded courtroom were moved to tears, including a sheriff’s deputy and some of Dashawn’s relatives, who did not want to speak after the hearing.

The judge presiding over the hearing held Patterson and Patrick for trial on a charge of first-degree murder.

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and [that] he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye [this] great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;

Cursed [shalt] thou [be] when thou comest in, and cursed [shalt] thou [be] when thou goest out.

Firemen’s Killer Mapped Out Plan for Slayings

WILLIAM SPENGLER

(WEBSTER, N.Y.) — The ex-con turned sniper who killed two firefighters wanted to make sure his goodbye note was legible, typing out his desire to “do what I like doing best, killing people” before setting the house where he lived with his sister ablaze, police say.

Police Chief Gerald Pickering said Tuesday that the 62-year-old loner, William Spengler, brought plenty of ammunition with him for three weapons including a military-style assault rifle as he set out on a quest to burn down his neighborhood just before sunrise on Christmas Eve.

And when firefighters arrived to stop him, he unleashed a torrent of bullets, shattering the windshield of the fire truck that volunteer firefighter and police Lt. Michael Chiapperini, 43, drove to the scene.

Fellow firefighter Tomasz Kaczowka, 19, who worked as a 911 dispatcher, was killed as well.

Two other firefighters were struck by bullets, one in the pelvis and the other in the chest and knee. They remained hospitalized in stable condition and were expected to survive.

On Tuesday, investigators found a body in the Spengler home, presumably that of the sister a neighbor said Spengler hated: 67-year-old Cheryl Spengler.

Spengler’s penchant for death had surfaced before. He served 17 years in prison for manslaughter in the 1980 hammer slaying of his grandmother.
But his intent was unmistakable when he left his flaming home carrying a pump-action shotgun, a .38-caliber revolver and a .223-caliber semiautomatic Bushmaster rifle with flash suppression, the same make and caliber weapon used in the elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn., that killed 26.
He was equipped to go to war, kill innocent people,” the chief said of a felon who wasn’t allowed to possess weapons because of his criminal past. It was not clear how he got them.

The assault rifle was believed to be the weapon that struck down the firefighters. He then killed himself as seven houses burned on a sliver of land along Lake Ontario. His body was not found on a nearby beach until hours afterwards.

The motive was left unclear as well, Pickering said, even as authorities began analyzing a two- to three-page typewritten rambling note Spengler left behind.
He declined to reveal the note’s full content or say where it was found. He read only one chilling line: “I still have to get ready to see how much of the neighborhood I can burn down, and do what I like doing best, killing people.”

Pickering added: “There was some rambling in there and some intelligence we need to follow up on.”
It remained unknown what set Spengler off but a next-door neighbor, Roger Vercruysse, noted that he loved his mother, Arline, who died in October after living in the house in a neighborhood of seasonal and year-round homes across the road from a lakeshore popular with recreational boaters.

Pickering said it was unclear whether the person believed to be Spengler’s sister died before or during the fire.
“It was a raging inferno in there,” Pickering said.
As Pickering described it and as emergency radio communications on the scene showed, the heavily armed Spengler took a position behind a small hill by the house as four firefighters arrived after 5:30 a.m. to extinguish the fire: two on a fire truck; two in their own vehicles.

Several firefighters went beneath the truck to shield themselves as an off-duty police officer who came to the scene pulled his vehicle alongside the truck to try to shield them, authorities said.
The first police officer who arrived chased and exchanged shots with Spengler, recounting it later over his police radio.

“I could see the muzzle blasts comin’ at me. … I fired four shots at him. I thought he went down,” the officer said.
At another point, he said: “I don’t know if I hit him or not. He’s by a tree. … He was movin’ eastbound on the berm when I was firing shots.” Pickering portrayed the officer as a hero who saved many lives.
The audio posted on the website RadioReference.com also has someone reporting “firefighters are down” and saying “got to be rifle or shotgun — high-powered … semi or fully auto.”

Spengler had been charged with murder in his grandmother’s death but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter, apparently to spare his family a trial. After he was freed from prison, Spengler had lived a quiet life on Lake Road on a narrow peninsula where Irondequoit Bay meets Lake Ontario.
That ended when he left his burning home Monday morning, armed with his weapons, a lot of ammunition and a measure of hate.

“I’m not sure we’ll ever know what was going through his mind,” Pickering said.

The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.

And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour;

Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, [and] the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD.

Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Miami Man Doused In Gasoline At Station, Set On Fire

A man pumping gas at a station in Miami was doused with gasoline and set on fire Tuesday night, according to the Miami Herald.
44-year-old Darrell Brackett (pictured) sustained third-degree burns in the attack and is fighting for his life at a local hospital.

Thursday afternoon, Bennett’s mother distributed flyers at the station, hoping somebody with information on who attacked her son will come forward.

Most of the skin on his face is gone and nearly 50 percent of his body is covered in third-degree burns, but doctors say Darrell Brackett, who was set on fire in front of a Brownsville gas station on Christmas night, will likely survive.

“We are trying to think positive, but the next three days will be critical,’’ said his mother, Bridgett Brackett, who on Thursday distributed fliers at the gas station where her son was attacked. She and her family are asking the public’s help in finding those responsible for the crime, which happened at the U-Gas station, 4700 NW 27th Ave., along one of the busiest and most blighted, thoroughfares in the neighborhood.

For their feet run to   evil, and make haste to shed blood.

Woman Kidnapped, Raped In Her Car For 5 Hours On Christmas Day, 3 Men Arrested

Three Philadelphia teenagers have been arrested after forcing their way into a woman’s car on Christmas Day and driving around for hours as they beat and raped her, reports Philly.com.
Kewon Matthews and Kevin Jones, both 17, were arrested at a friend’s home after police were called to the residence by his mother. Merchandise the teens had stolen from the victim was visible in the home when the officers arrived and they gave the name of the third man, Brehon Rawlings, 19, who was found hiding in the bathtub at his home.
All three men were charged as adults with “kidnapping, rape, robbery and related offenses and were being held on $500,000 bail each.”
Philly.com has more details:

About 11:40 p.m. Christmas night, the 22-year-old victim was in her Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot of George’s Water Ice, at Grace and Marshall roads, waiting for her boyfriend to come out of a nearby bar, when three men – one of whom had a gun – forced their way into her vehicle, Chitwood said.
They made the woman move to the back seat and drove her around Philadelphia for hours, police said. One by one, the men took turns in the back seat forcing the victim to perform sex acts, even after she repeatedly vomited on them, according to court documents.
The men also hit her and robbed her of her Coach purse, a wallet, a car stereo, a cellphone, a camera, a GPS, a ruby ring, a diamond necklace, a bracelet and her insurance and registration paperwork, according to police.
After going through her belongings, the men realized that the woman had a 2-year-old daughter, and they threatened her life and the child’s life if she said anything to authorities. They then parked the car at Long Lane near Marshall Road, told the woman they would throw the keys under the car and fled on foot, Chitwood said.
After waiting several minutes, the woman got out of the car, grabbed her keys from underneath and drove to her boyfriend’s house. Together, they went to the police station around 5:30 a.m.

These guys are truly, truly animals,” Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “This is the kind of crime that shocks the public consciousness.”

India Teen Commits Suicide After Police Pressure Her To Drop Gang Rape Case, Marry Attacker

17-year-old Indian girl who was gang-raped committed suicide after police pressured her to drop the case and marry one of her attackers, police and a relative said on Thursday.
Amid the ongoing uproar over the gang-rape of a student on a bus in New Delhi earlier this month, the latest case has again shone the spotlight on the police's handling of sex crimes.
One police officer has been sacked and another suspended over their conduct after the assault during the festival of Diwali on November 13 in the Patiala region in the Punjab, according to officials.
The teenager was found dead on Wednesday night after swallowing poison.
Inspector General Paramjit Singh Gill said that the teenager had been "running from pillar to post to get her case registered" but officers failed to open a formal inquiry.
"One of the officers tried to convince her to withdraw the case," Gill, the police chief for the area, told AFP.
Before her death, there had been no arrests over her case although three people were detained on Thursday. Two of them were her alleged male attackers and the third was a suspected woman accomplice.
The victim's sister told Indian television that the teenager had been urged to either accept a cash settlement or marry one of her attackers.
"The police started pressuring her to either reach a financial settlement with her attackers or marry one of them," her sister told the NDTV network.
Meanwhile, the Press Trust of India reported that a police officer has been suspended for allegedly refusing to register a rape complaint in the northern state of Chhattisgar.
The woman and her husband later brought the case to the attention of a more senior officer and a hunt has now been launched for her attacker, an auto rickshaw driver.
Official figures show that 228,650 of the total 256,329 violent crimes recorded last year in India were against women.
The real figure is thought to be much higher as so many women are reluctant to report attacks to the police.
During an address to the chief ministers of India's states on Thursday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh pledged to bring in new laws to cover attacks on women.

But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:

And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.

And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.

Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.

Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her [was] greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone

Woman Charged With Murder As Hate Crime In NYC Subway Push Death

NEW YORK — A woman who told police she shoved a man to his death off a subway platform into the path of a train because she hates Muslims and thought he was one was charged Saturday with murder as a hate crime, prosecutors said.
Erika Menendez was charged in the death of Sunando Sen, who was crushed by a 7 train in Queens on Thursday night, the second time this month a commuter has died in such a nightmarish fashion.
Menendez, 31, was awaiting arraignment on the charge Saturday evening, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said. She could face 25 years to life in prison if convicted. She was in custody and couldn’t be reached for comment, and it was unclear if she had an attorney.
Menendez, who was arrested after a tip by a passer-by who saw her on a street and thought she looked like the woman in a surveillance video released by police, admitted shoving Sen, who was pushed from behind, authorities said.
“I pushed a Muslim off the train tracks because I hate Hindus and Muslims ever since 2001 when they put down the twin towers I’ve been beating them up,” Menendez told police, according to the district attorney’s office.
Sen was from India, but it’s unclear if he was Muslim or Hindu. The 46-year-old lived in Queens and ran a printing shop. He was shoved from an elevated platform on the 7 train line, which connects Manhattan and Queens. Witnesses said a muttering woman rose from her seat on a platform bench and pushed him on the tracks as a train entered the station and then ran off.
The two had never met before, authorities said, and witnesses told police they hadn’t interacted on the platform.
Police released a sketch and security camera video showing a woman running from the station where Sen was killed.
Menendez was arrested by police earlier in the day after a passer-by on a Brooklyn street spotted her and called 911. Police responded, confirmed her identity and took her into custody, where she made statements implicating herself in the crime, police spokesman Paul Browne said.
The district attorney said such hateful remarks could not be tolerated.
“The defendant is accused of committing what is every subway commuter’s worst nightmare,” said Brown, the district attorney.
On Dec. 3, another man was pushed to his death in a Times Square subway station. A photo of the man clinging to the edge of the platform a split-second before he was struck by a train was published on the cover of the New York Post, causing an uproar about whether the photographer, who was catching a train, or anyone else should have tried to help him.

It’s unclear whether anyone tried — or could have tried — to help Sen on Thursday.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Friday urged residents to keep Sen’s death in perspective as he touted new historic lows in the city’s annual homicide and shooting totals.
“It’s a very tragic case, but what we want to focus on today is the overall safety in New York,” Bloomberg told reporters following a police academy graduation.
But commuters still expressed concern over subway safety.
“It’s just a really sad commentary on the world and on human beings, period,” said Howard Roth, who takes the subway daily.
He said the deadly push reminded him, “the best thing is what they tell you — don’t stand near the edge, and keep your eyes open.”
Such subway deaths are rare, but other high-profile cases include the 1999 fatal shoving of Kendra Webdale, an aspiring screenwriter, by a former psychiatric patient. That case led to a state law allowing for more supervision of mentally ill people living outside institutions.

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
