Pastor and wife arrested on drug charges

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - UPDATE: Friday, June 3  Bond for Rev. James Hunter was set at $17,500 on seven charges for drug distribution and possession.  His wife Sylvia Hunter previously bonded out for $2,500.  The couple will be arraigned on June 16.

Thursday, June 2 A two month long undercover drug investigation by the Mobile County Sheriff's Office has led to the arrest of a pastor, James A. Hunter, and his wife, Sylvia Hunter, with Forever Flowing Ministries.
MCSO undercover narcotic deputies began purchasing drugs from Hunter and his wife in March. On May 20, 2011, deputies arranged to buy morphine from the couple and detained them when they showed up.
The two agreed to provide further information on their illegal drug operations, and turned themselves in to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office June 2, 2011.
James is charged with six counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, attempt/possession and possession/receiving a controlled substance. He remains behind bars.
Sylvia is charged with possession/receiving a controlled substance. She has been released on bond.
