After posting explicit racial rants
via Facebook, a southwestern Indiana native has resigned from his position as
volunteer fire chief. Although he’s no longer in office and isn’t allowed back,
the ex-fire fighter isn’t quite sure why anyone was upset about his
inappropriate rants on social media.
According to RTV6, Chief Sean Sargent resigned from his position when
authorities found him using racial slurs on his Facebook page. Sargent also
admitted to being a racist who supports legendary hate organization, the Ku
Klux Klan.
On multiple occasions, Sargent made
it no secret that he was an avid supporter of lynchings.
“I’m just gonna come out and say it!
I’m a full blown racist, I dare a dirty (racial expletive) to try and
knock me out, and oh yeah! Support your local klan!!!” wrote Sargent in one of
his many Facebook posts.
Along with the shocking revelation,
Sargent continued with, “1000 (racial expletive) at the bottom of the sea,” and
said it would be “a good (expletive) start.”
No one would ever expect Sargent for
such egregious behavior, on the account that the 31-year-old worker had been a
Owensburg Jackson Township volunteer for the fire department since he was
15-years-old and a chief for a year.
Despite his impeccable resume, the
staff let him go and couldn’t tolerate the posts.
An emergency medical technician
who’s friends with Sargent on Facebook said she was shocked when she saw the
posts.
“I thought, ‘Oh he’s been hacked’,”
said Andrea Artis.
She later sent a private message to
Sargent, who admitted that he himself made the posts and he was indeed not
hacked.
“This man is in a position of power,
he has lives in his hands,” said Artis.
“If you’re going to be
in uniform in your profile picture, putting that up next to it — you’re in
a position of power and little kids see that and that’s wrong.”
Sargent claimed he made the posts to
“get a reaction.” However, he denied they were intended to disparage any
particular race and were directed at lazy people who work, have multiple
children and live on welfare.
“Everyone should be a productive
member of society” said Sargent.
“I have an issue with anyone who is
being lazy or taking advantage of the system.”
Sargent suggested that he will never
treat a citizen differently because of their racial background, especially
while on duty.
“It doesn’t matter what race you
are. I think this whole thing was turned into more than it really should have
been.”
Sargent admitted that he “lashed
out,” but totally denies that he’s racist.
“As for the KKK, I’m looking for
some place where I can be proud to be a white American,” said
Sargent while stating he doesn’t believe the KKK is a racist group.
“The Klan is not about threatening
people. I opened their website and started looking into the Klan, an
organization you can join to be proud of your white heritage.”
The ex-chief, who has a black family
member, says he could never understand why gays and black people can flaunt
their pride, but people of Caucasian decent cannot.
“No matter what anybody wants to
say, there is still a thing called freedom of speech,” he said.
“I can say whatever I want,
whether I feel that way or not. In America, you have that freedom.”
SCRIPTURES
DEUTERONOMY 28:47 Because thou servedst not
the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance
of all things;
48 Therefore shalt thou
serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in
thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall
put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
EZEKIEL 3:4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee
unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.
5 For thou art not sent to a
people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house
of Israel;
6 Not to many people of a strange speech and of an
hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee
to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.
ZEPHANIAH 2:1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together,
O nation not desired;
2 Before the decree bring forth, before the
day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you,
before the day of the LORD'S anger come upon you.
