‘She carved him up and mutilated him': Woman gets life in prison for castrating and fatally stabbing man more than 130 times - but his teenage daughters FORGIVE her

  • She also cut his penis and scrotum off with a pocket knife
  • Richardson claimed she acted in self-defense after being raped and also suffered stab wounds
  • Richardson and Owens had been drinking heavily and taking drugs before the alleged attack

A Texas jury deliberated for two hours Tuesday before sentencing a 29-year-old woman to a life in prison for castrating and stabbing a father of two to death over 130 times after he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The penalty phase came a day after Cristal Richardson was convicted of murder in the April 2012 slaying of Cedric Owens.
During Tuesday's hearing, the victim’s two teenage daughters delivered their impact statements in court, telling their father's killer that their Christian faith compelled them to forgive her.
Guilty: Cristal Paulette Richardson, 29 (pictured), has been convicted of murder and sentenced to a life in prison for stabbing 34-year-old Cedric Lamont Owens to death in April 2012
'I forgive you for myself,' said 13-year-old Ajza Owens. 'You took a wonderful man away from me. You took my everything.'
Ajza's 15-year-old sister, Cedmyiah, told Richardson that while the woman will be able to see her 7-year-old son some day, she will never see her father again, Dallas Morning News reported.
'I’m still hurting from this. I don’t know that I can ever recover from this,' Cedmyiah Owens said.
Cedric Owens, 34, was found dead from more than 130 stab wounds inside a Dallas motel room April 28, 2012 after a night of drinking and drugs.

His throat was slit with a pocket knife, and his penis and scrotum were hacked off.
Richardson had pleaded not guilty to the gruesome crime, with defense attorney Paul Johnson saying his client acted in self-defense.

'This is a beaten and battered woman,' Johnson said of Richardson during the trial. 'She is broken.'
But prosecutor Josh Healy dismissed his opponent's self-defense claim as 'preposterous', saying that the defendant did not suffer any injuries to justify the savage attack.

Heartbroken: Ownes's daughters told the defendant that she had robbed them of a wonderful man, and that while she would be able to see her son one day, they will never get to see their father
The jury returned a guilty verdict after more than 21 hours of deliberations. Richardson remained impassive when it was read aloud.
During his closing arguments Tuesday, her attorney asked the jurors for leniency for his 'troubled' client, saying that her life has been marked by tragedy, beginning with her being sexually assaulted by her own father.
'She deserves mercy,' Johnson pleaded.
But the prosecution painted the 29-year-old as a ruthless killer who has long exhibited violent behavior.
‘She carved him up and mutilated him in a way that is unimaginable,' prosecutor Brandi Mitchell said.
During the punishment phase, the prosecutors showed evidence that as recently as this past March, Richardson threatened to kill a detention officer.
Last December, the 29-year-old punched another corrections officer, who had to be rescued by her colleagues.
Richardson's defense attorney Paul Johnson argued that his client killed Ownes in self-defense after he sexually assaulted her
When speaking on the phone with a friend after the attack, the woman bragged about dragging officer Shantrial Shaw 'like a rag doll.'
Richardson has a long criminal record going as far back as 2004, when she was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing a person during an altercation.
In 2010, she was found guilty of driving while intoxicated with her young son in the car.
Richardson' mother, Sherrell Allen, apologized to the Owens family in court Tuesday and said she has been praying for them.
The 29-year-old convicted killer sobbed throughout her mother's testimony. As she was being led out of the courtroom upon hearing her sentence, Richardson mouthed 'I love you' to her mother.
On the night before Owens was slain, prosecutors say he and Richardson met at a convenience store. She had dollar bills pinned to her dress and told him it was her birthday.
It is not clear if the pair were dating or had met for the first time.
During the trial, the court heard that the pair stopped several times that night so Owens could buy alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and PCP.
Prosecutors said the couple joined three other people for a party at Motel 6 on Interstate 30 near Jim Miller Road in Far East Dallas. Owens paid for the room. ]
The pair were joined by Diedre Lyons, a friend of Owens', her cousin and another friend. She said everyone was drinking and taking drugs. Lyons said she left the party about 4am or 5am the next day because she felt sick.
The afternoon after the party, about 5pm, a security guard heard a loud disturbance from Owens’ room on the third floor and saw Richardson run out of the room, naked and covered in blood.
He called police, who found Owens dead in the room. It appears that no-one else was in the room.
A Dallas County medical examiner's office field agent who examined Owens' body found that he had 'multiple stab wounds to his upper body, his throat was cut and there was traumatic amputation' of genitalia.

Meanwhile, Richardson was taken to hospital with a stab wound on her right thigh, a cut on her forearm and hair stuck in the dried blood on her fingers.
Dallas News reported that during her sexual assault exam, Richardson said she felt like she had been raped, but couldn't recall what happened or identify her attacker.
She told the medical examiner, Dr. Evelina Alcalen, who testified in court, that she had consumed vodka, beer, marijuana and medication for schizoaffective disorder.
Alcalen said there were no signs of sexual assault injuries, but it's normal for rape victims to be injury-free.
Forensic analysts said the pocket knife police used to stab Owens was mainly covered in Richardson's blood, and a used condom found at the crime scene matched Richardson and Owens' DNA.

At the time of the attack, Richardson told investigators she ate breakfast and took a nap and didn't remember anything else until she was taken away from the scene

Ephesians 5:
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Deuteronomy 28:
56 The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
