Thirty-six-year-old Mitchell Blair, who pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of her daughter and felony murder in the death of her son last month, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole by a Michigan judge on Friday.
Wayne County, Detroit Circuit Judge Dana Hathaway told Blair, who admitted to putting her children in a freezer after killing them, “You imposed the death penalty on your own children.” She added that she had “failed in the worst possible way,” to protect her children, which had been her primary responsibility as a mother.
Sentencing Blair for the deaths of 9-year-old Stephen Berry and 13-year-old Stoni Blair, the judge added that her sentence was “meaning, of course, that you will never get out.”
Calling them “demons,” Blair had admitted last month to beating, burning and killing her children. Fox17 reports that Blair said in court, “I don’t regret none of this… I don’t feel no remorse for the death of them demons.”
“They lived in terrible fear of you,” Hathaway said, according to USA Today. “And I find that just so sad in this case.”
