DC mayoral staffer arrested for cocaine distribution

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A member of D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser's staff was arrested Tuesday for cocaine distribution, a source confirmed to WUSA9.
Lorenzo Sanders, 51, of Washington D.C. was indicted Thursday on a federal offense of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He is being held without bond pending a hearing on Tuesday.
Sanders is the staff assistant for the office of religious affairs. He has been placed on administrative leave and the termination process has begun, according to Bowser's office.
According to court documents, officers found more than 120 grams of cocaine during a raid on Sanders' house in the 5300 block of C Street SE. 10.8 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, five cell phones and $2,000 in U.S. currency in a clear plastic bag was also recovered from his home, according to the documents.
Sanders son Dominick Saunders was also arrested during a simultaneous raid on his home in Temple Hills, Md. During that raid, officers recovered about eight grams of crack cocaine and a pistol.
