Severe Obesity Among Minority Children on the Rise

The number of minority children suffering from severe obesity is on the rise according to a recent study. Severe obesity is described as having a body index of 40 or more. Obesity rates have been rising since the 1980s. In 1999, the number of adolescents with severe obesity was 0.9 percent. From 2013 to 2014, that number jumped to 2.4 percent.
