20-year-old Brian Armstrong

Police say a 2-month-old boy from Germantown died after being hospitalized with severe bodily injuries and the child's father is facing charges.

Around 4:20 p.m. Friday, Einstein Hospital staff informed police that they had an infant with critical injuries.

Police say 20-year-old Brian Armstrong had taken his son 2-month-old Hassan Armstrong to the hospital because he stopped breathing.

The 2-month-old had extensive injuries to his ribs and body including his skull.

The child was transported to St. Christopher's Hospital where he died Sunday afternoon.

Armstrong now faces aggravated assault and related charges which are likely to be upgraded.

Police continue to investigate.
