Pastor shot in the head over senseless road rage incident

Steven Simon
A young pastor out of Florida was shot in the head in a senseless tragedy that has left the community stunned.  Steven Simon is a 22-year old preacher out of West Palm Beach.  He was shot in the head last week during a road rage incident in Interstate 95.

The young pastor was with his girlfriend at the time, a 23-year old woman who called police right after the shooting.

“We’re driving, and [inaudible] he cut us off,” she said.  ”Then, we kept driving, and he drove by us, then he cut us off again, and then he shot at us.”

The young lady was able to give the police a description of the car.  Police are now looking for a 1999/2000 beige or Champagne-colored car with a white male driver in his 50s or 60s.  The man has white hair and they believe that he was driving a Saturn.

“Unfortunately, road rage is becoming a part of our culture. People get upset where there was a slow down. It’s just absolutely ludicrous to let a situation like this escalate,” said Martin County Sheriff William Snyder.

Simon was flown to the hospital and is fighting to live after this horrible incident.  He is a pastor at the Straight Way to Heaven church in West Palm Beach.

“We desperately need the public’s help,” Sheriff Snyder said. he added,”There’s someone out there who can help us.”

DMV.org gives some tips on how to deal with road rage.  They say that by keeping your cool and avoiding aggressive drivers, you can keep your family safe on the road.  Since you don’t know who you’re dealing with, you’re best off to disengage as soon as possible.

You must realize that you can’t control another driver’s behavior, but you can control your own. When another driver cuts you off, how you react will determine what happens next. If you are able to back off, take a deep breath, and remain calm, then you can defuse a potentially violent situation.

True, you might need to vent about the driver tailgating you all the way from town or the overly cautious motorist who consistently drove under the speed limit. Venting your frustration is normal and healthy, so long as you vent appropriately.

Deuteronomy 32:39
See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

Ecclesiastic 39:28 There be spirits that are created for vengeance, which in their fury lay on sore strokes; in the time of destruction they pour out their force, and appease the wrath of him that made them.

Obadiah 1:
10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
