Ex-Convict Accepts Christianity And Prays With Officer Who Arrested Him

After a run in with the law eight years ago on a gun charge, Edward “Doc” Arney, who has been arrested on numerous occasions, mainly for drug activity, was sent to prison seven years ago for the third time.

However, pondering his future while incarcerated seven years ago, Arney cried out to the Lord to help change his life. He told local station KHOU that Jesus did indeed help him to turn his life around and he began attending Bible College and remained faithful to go to church after his release from prison.
“I have not always been a friend to the police,” Amey told KHOU. “I grew up selling drugs. I’ve been to prison three times.” The station adds that Arney’s rap sheet includes six felony convictions and several more misdemeanors.
“The last week-and-a-half God has really been giving me the urge to pray for police officers,” he told the television station, adding that the Lord has been moving on his heart to pray for law enforcement officials for some time.
The Root reports that last weekend, Arney saw Texas City Police Officer Salvador Chapa on the streets. He hadn’t seen him since he was arrested by Chapa eight years ago. “I arrested him several years ago on a gun charge,” Chapa said. “And due to that, he ended up doing some time.”
Arney approached Chapa and surprisingly asked him if he could pray for him and his fellow officers. The delighted officer readily agreed and they went off together to pray.
“I pray that You continue to watch over him,” Amey prayed as he joined hands with Chapa. “Continue to guide him and lead him in the way that You may have him go, Lord.”
Chapa’s friend, Kevin Woods, who was standing nearby as Arney approached the officer and witnessed the whole encounter, pulled out his phone, took a photograph of the cop and ex-con praying together and uploaded it to Facebook.

Hosea 4:6
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

 Colossians 2:8
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
